1. How do I place a warranty service call?
Consult Continental customer service at 1-800-523-7138 extension 113, 132, or 159 prior to any warranty service work. Be prepared to provide the model and serial number. Continental's normal business hours are 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Eastern Time. See question #2 for service during off-hours. See Warranty page for further information.
Not covered under warranty are temperature adjustments, calibrations, leveling, dirty condenser, and any preventative maintenance. Failures due to lack of maintenance may void your warranty.

2. How is a warranty service call made during off-hours?
After normal business hours you must leave a message with customer service (extension 113, 132, or 159) providing contact name, place of business, where unit is located, model number and serial number, description of the problem and if possible, installation date. Contact Continental the following business day during normal business hours of 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Eastern Time.

3. Do I have to go through Continental for parts and do old parts have to be returned?
Service contractors should consult Continental for any parts needed under warranty. Continental will issue a 5 digit Return Goods Authorization number (RGA) to put on the outside of the box to return defective part to factory, freight prepaid. Exceptions will be made. For example, if you use truck stock or purchase parts, Continental can either replace your stock or issue a check for our cost of the part.

4. What is Continental's standard warranty?
The warranty is 1 year on parts and labor, and 5 years on the compressor, from date of installation. Please consult factory before any warranty service work. See the Warranty page for further information.

5. How can I tell if my compressor is covered under warranty?
All units come with a five year warranty on the compressor, unless otherwise stated. Refer to the data tag on the top of the compressor. Here you will find the model#, serial#, and date code of that compressor. For example, Model# AEA4440YXA, SERIAL# 159867, with a date code of B2199 (B = Month of February, 21 = day, 99 = year). If this date is within 20 months from the day the compressor fails or one year from date of installation, it can be over-the-counter exchanged at any Tecumseh/Copeland wholesaler.
After the 20 months, there are three options. First, the compressor is sent from the factory, ground UPS, at no charge. Second, the compressor is sent next day, second day or third day air (the customer is responsible for those charges). Third, the compressor is purchased at a local Tecumseh/Copeland wholesaler and we will issue an allowance towards the purchase of that compressor (the customer is responsible for the difference). Two things are required. First, we need the Model# and Serial# off of the Continental unit (located on the inside right-hand wall). Second, we need a copy of the compressor tag off of the top of the compressor.
Please fax info to 215-244-9579 ATTN: Customer Service.

6. How do I install (older style )door gaskets?
The newer door gaskets are snap-in style but, for the older style gaskets the instructions are as follows:

    1. Take the door off the unit - open door 90° and lift up. If the door is on a mechanical hinge, remove the hinge screws that secure the hinge to the front of the unit.
    2. Lay the door on a table - handle side down.
    3. Slip a putty knife or a scrapper about 1 1/2" into the seam between the door gasket and the door shell. This will break the glue seal. Pry up slightly around the whole perimeter of the door until you can pull the old gasket off. DO NOT REMOVE THE DOOR PAN OR ANY DOOR MOLDING !!
    4. For easier installation trim approximately 1/2" off of the flat portion of gasket to allow the gasket to slip under the door pan.
    5. Install the new gasket on the door - secure the gasket with sheet metal screws about every 12" around the door.

Programming

    A. Alarm setpoints - Press "Set Mode" switch. The alarm will display "HSP" (High Alarm SetPoint). Press the "Set Mode" switch again to display the current "HSP" value. To program an increase or decrease in the "HSP" press the appropriate "Up/Down" switch. Repeat this procedure for "LSP" (Low Alarm Setpoint).

    B. High and Low Data Logging - Following the Alarm Setpoints the "Set Mode" switch will display "HI" (High Temperature Log) and "LO" (Low Temperature Log). This is the highest and lowest temperature recorded since the "Reset" switch was pressed. Pressing the "Reset" switch, while viewing the data, will reset these values to the sensor temperature.
IMPORTANT: If the programming sequence is interrupted for more than fifteen seconds, or not completed through to the point where the display flashes once, the unit will automatically revert back to the temperature mode, WITHOUT acknowledging any new values (tamper resistant).

    C. Alarm Silencer - Press the "Reset" switch to silence the audible alarm.

    D. The Alarm Delay, Silence Time Interval and Alarm Reset are all adjustable using the dip switch on the rear (see figure 2).

    E. Battery Backup - A 9 volt battery (not included) will allow you to read the display by pressing the "Reset" switch and the unit will transmit an audible alarm. If battery is low or absent, three dots will light on front of display.

    F. Manual Reset option requires user to press "Reset" switch to stop audible/visual alarm even if temperature has returned to normal conditions.

    G. All dip switch functions should be set before powering the unit.
